GNV staff have been polite and professional at each interaction. The ferry left only 45mins late and that was due to delays introduced by Moroccan Customs. The ferry is fairly well appointed and comfortable but has limited communal seating areas to relax in. The Cinema and Theatre are both locked up.
Here at the counter, the Food Pass was sold at the regular price, not at the discounted price like online or directly on the ferry. This is a rip-off. It's better to buy the Food Pass online or directly on the ferry (and not get ripped off at the counter).
This ferry company is by far the worst I havre had the misfortune to deal with in my life. All I want to do is add a passenger for the return leg of the voyage to Sète and the portal will not let me do it! Numerous emails to GNV and the best advice they can come with is to ring a number in Genoa...from Morocco! As far as I can see I will have to make a separate booking which will involve buying a separate pullman seat, completely unnecessary when I already have a 4 berth cabin. No help whatsover! I shall not be using them again and shall go public on Youtube with my dire experience. R Paul
Great experience! The cruise with GNV from Barcelona to Nador, Morocco on board the ATLAS exceeded my expectations. The ship is spacious, stable and clean - an ideal choice for a long journey across the sea. The cabin is comfortable, the beds are clean, the air conditioning is functional. The public areas were tidy and well marked. The restaurant on board was a pleasant surprise - the choice of dishes was sufficient, the prices were acceptable, the taste was absolutely fine. I recommend using the prepaid meal card - convenient and cost-effective. The staff was professional, friendly and helpful - whether at the reception, in the dining room or when boarding the ship. The organization of embarkation and disembarkation was carried out without unnecessary complications, everything was clearly marked and understandable even for those traveling for the first time. The journey took several hours, but thanks to the comfort and services on board, it passed faster than I expected. An ideal choice if you are traveling by car or want a more comfortable alternative to air transport. I recommend it to anyone who wants to combine travel with relaxation. GNV and the ATLAS ferry pleasantly surprised me - I would love to come back.
If there was less than one star I would have done it, I had a ticket for Nador-Barcelona but they did not let me board, the reason for this is related to the DCMU card (identity document for minor foreigners) even though the documents were official and their justification was that the Barcelona authorities do not accept this document. It is a scam and it must have forced us to take a ticket for Nador-Almeria while it has the same Barcelona authorities. This also meant that we had to cross Spain so the expenses were higher and the price of the ticket plus expenses amounted to spending much more and no manager wanted to explain the reason and so we were like dogs waiting in the heat with our children and the journey was horrible in terms of comfort as well as the presentation of the places. I do not recommend this company because this did not happen with my friends. The journey for them was Oran-Barcelona and they had the same documents.
We were traveling with a visa, and at check-in, they forced us to get travel insurance, saying they wouldn't be able to check us in otherwise. Travel insurance was mandatory and they would ask for it at every ticket counter. We had to run around Nador to find a place to get it and spend €50 unnecessarily because NO ONE ever asked us for it. The staff was arrogant and haughty. I've been traveling with this company for years, doing the Barcelona-Nador/Tangier route, and I've never had any problems. I've traveled on most of the ships that operate this route, some better than others, but this last time, I don't know where they salvaged the ship (Azzura), but it was a disaster. Old, run-down, dirty, and the staff was incredibly rude. They responded grudgingly, ignored any requests, and got angry if you asked for something. The cafeteria was a disaster. It's the worst trip I've taken in years.
