Barbershop company | Hassan 1, Chefchaouen 91000, Morocco

WATCH OUT! This business is shameless and threatening. I got welcomed in by "Issam" for 100dh for a haircut, which I felt was reasonable (our waiter had said 50dh to 70dh was typical). Then he started suggesting X and Y and this and that at the end of which I decided I'd give him a 50% tip. He never mentioned nor did we agree on a price for these extras. And, of course, there's no price list posted anywhere for reference (that should have been my first clue). Once he was done, he said I owed him an additional 150% for a total of 250dh. Even after I agreed to 200dh, he called his thug buddy who'd been sitting across the alley to come in and start screaming and cursing and threatening me for the extra money. Horrible last day and experience in Morocco after five great weeks of travel throughout this beautiful country meeting so many of its amazing people. By far the worst barber experience of my life.

The Best Haircut in Chefchaouen!!! While travelling through Chefchaouen, I popped into a small barbershop for a quick trim — and ended up getting the best haircut of my life. I get my hair cut every three weeks back in London, so I’ve been to plenty of barbers, but nothing compares to this. For just €13, I got a high-class cut done with real care and love. Every detail was perfect, and the barber treated it like an art form. I honestly wish I could bring him back to London with me. Looking forward to meeting soon!

Scam — Avoid This Place! The owner seems friendly at first, but don’t be fooled. There are no prices listed anywhere, and he charges tourist prices without warning. He even asked me how much I usually pay for a haircut in my country, just so he could charge me more. He offered to shave my moustache but never mentioned it would cost extra — only to surprise me with a higher bill at the end. This place is not transparent and clearly takes advantage of visitors. Save your money and go somewhere more honest.
