This is not the place if you want to have a quick dinner; the menu was not extensive and it had about 3 dishes striked out; when we sat down they told us that another 3 dishes were also not available which didn’t leave us with many options. We visited in December and it was quite cold outside, all the doors were open which didn’t make it warm inside. They however put a gas patio heater inside to try to make it warmer, creating a big risk of carbon monoxide exposure. The food was okay (but for the price I was expecting more), the waiters friendly and the atmosphere is really nice, which could work for a romantic dinner but I wouldn’t go back.
Without a doubt, the best food in Quarzazate for us. If you are looking for a 'real restaurant' vibe and a more Western experience (clean, real table cloths) while being served high quality Morroccan food, this is the place to go. The price reflects the quality in our opinion. The gas heater indoors is the only downside, a bit of a safety concern.
To start, the place and ambiance is beautiful, very western experience for a restaurant in Morocco. We ordered the 10 side entrees of Moroccan salads, which were extremely disappointing. The flavours were all over the place, some where overly spiced, others were overly sweeten. We followed with, lamb shank, which was cooked well but the spices were overwhelming which masked the taste of the lamb entirely. The olives that accompanied the lamb, were also extremely salty. We had also ordered some couscous, which was alright, nothing extraordinary. On the bland side. Considering our satisfaction with the meal, the price was extremely high.
Ordered here - Moroccan mosaic of salads - Couscous Tfaya The mosaic of salads is so large, it is enough on its own. The 10 different salads are really delicious (I liked 9 out of 10) and together with the bread it was heaven. The Couscous Tfaya was wonderful. It was a nice mixture of fragrant, sweet and nutty, buttery. The broth/sauce with it was wonderful and you pour it over the couscous. If you dont like raisins (like me), dont skip Tfaya, give it a chance, despite the fact that tfaya has raisins, it actually tastes great in this dish (at least in this restaurant). Service was very warm and courteous, the owners really care about the guests. To recommend!
