Hello, We are Moroccans living abroad (MREs) and my father is building our house in Sidi Ifni. We had a huge problem with the electricity company (office) regarding the installation of an electricity meter. Their technician refused to install the meter, claiming that the utility pole is too close to our house and that we must pay for a site survey before being given a quote for moving the pole and installing the cables (an estimate between 50,000 and 70,000 dirhams)!!! Just 200 meters away, there is a neighboring house in the same situation as ours, but it has an electricity meter installed without any problems!!! Also, you should know that we have already received our building permit and that our house conforms to the initial plans (house plans accepted by the local authorities)... Then, my father was approached by one of their smasriya (an electrician) to "find an amicable solution"... to resolve the problem, we have to pay 7,000 dirhams in cash, and as if by magic, the permit will be signed without moving the pole!!! I find this outrageous... we are also Moroccans (albeit residing abroad) but we love and want to invest in our country of origin... We love our King, but there are people in these administrations who want to take advantage of us using illegal means to enrich themselves... I ask the competent authorities to open an investigation into the actions of this office, and I am sure that we are not the only ones who have suffered from their injustices...
