Unorganized, chaotic, and incompetent.Passport control takes half an hour for three people. The employees take their time and don't mind the ferry being delayed. Never again Beni Ansar, I'd rather go to Melilla, where it's cheaper and the work is decent. Even cars are scanned because the employees are too lazy to even take a quick look. They deliberately harass you. I won't be traveling to Morocco again for another 10 years, if ever.

Sghanghan is a small town in the Nador Province of northeastern Morocco. It borders the city of Nador and almost forms a single urban area with it. Due to its location on the road to Beni Ansar and Melilla, Sghanghan is an important transit and commercial hub. Its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea and the Rif Mountains gives it unique natural beauty and strong tourist potential. In recent years, the town has witnessed rapid urban expansion, with new roads, schools, mosques, as well as housing and commercial projects. Its local markets are vibrant, showcasing a wide variety of agricultural and commercial products. Socially, Sghanghan blends rural traditions with urban living. Its people are known for their hospitality and sense of solidarity. Thanks to its strategic location and ongoing development projects in the Nador region, Sghanghan holds a promising future.

Very shoddy experience but customs and police very helpful and friendly unlike many of the other Maroc border crossings. I have rated it 2 stars because I was left stranded in the middle of the night when the Ferry run by Trasmediterranea sailed without me and many others as, they had massively over booked their ferry. It was a VERY bad experience.

Restaurants by port good and ferry port ok - until customs. Not many cars getting on 2 ferries but customs searched EVERY vehicle so it took hours before we boarded. 1 customs officer trying to intimidate us started poking holes in headlining of my 23 year old landrover and shouting "what?!!!" at us when he encountered what is probably insulation and certainly is NOT hashish. He and another officer sniffed the screwdriver but obviously no smell of drugs. Despite this he continued to poke holes and even started pulling lining off. Eventually a more senior officer told him to let us go. After a few more attempts, accompanied by much eye rolling from his colleagues (who seemed to want me to know they thought he was out of order) he did. Extremely rude. And I now have souvenir holes in landy headlining. Next time we'll just do the usual crossing to Melilla and get the ferry from there.
