After 4 years here I finally bought some carpets for my apartment in town. Said and Zayed are wonderful and friendly people with a wide range of quality traditional carpets at a reasonable and fair price. Very knowledgeable and interesting folk, I always enjoy visiting for a tea and to exchange stories. A must visit if you are in town.
A wonderful place and a wonderful person. The owner of the shop was incredibly kind and welcoming – it truly makes you want to come back. The shop is enchanting from the very first step, like a small museum full of soul and passion. He personally guided us through the entire store and told us the stories behind every piece. The handicrafts are absolutely beautiful, made with great care and genuine passion – everything catches the eye and brings joy. This is one of those places that stays with you for a long time. If you are in Tafraoute, you absolutely must visit this place!
Excellent shop and lovely explanation of the different styles and makes of carpets. Said is a very very very good salesman:-), as well as being a very helpful about all things “Tafraout”. He also helped us with an amazing 2-day Sahara adventure - if you’re climbing it makes an awesome 2-day rest day!
Fantastic carpet shop , Siad and Ziad are both charming and very helpful. We love their shop which is full of many different , sizes and colours of carpets . Also great silver jewellery.
We met Said our first day in town and he promised a "lovely shop," which it was. I wasn't even in the market for carpets, but couldn't resist 2 of them. Our other friend was in the market and found several beautiful carpets. Said and his brother, Zaida, worked with us to reach a fair deal for everyone and beautiful carpets to take home. They shipped my carpets as well as a tajine and other items I'd purchased in Tafroute, so I didn't have to travel with them. We continued to see Said around Tafroute and he provided us with excellent dining recommendations during our week there. When we left Tafroute, we felt like we were leaving new friends. Thank you, Said and Zaida!
Fascinating shop with beautiful carpets. For us, the prices offered were reasonable, though of course this will vary! The owner is very good at spotting tourists around town and drawing them into his shop, which would otherwise be a little hard to find. He has a well-rehearsed spiel about his wares, the veracity of which I have not verified! But a visit is certainly fascinating, entertaining, and worthwhile; there are quality items on offer, and deals to be made. Of note of climbers: he is willing to trade climbing gear and consumables, so if you are in a pinch, you might find some chalk there. Disclaimer: I reserve five stars for exceptional situations.
